Thonis-Heracleion (the Egyptian and Greek names of the city) is a city lost between legend and reality. Before the foundation of Alexandria in 331 BC, the city knew glorious times as the obligatory port of entry to Egypt for all ships coming from the Greek world. It had also a religious importance because of the temple of Amun, which played an important role in rites associated with dynasty continuity. The city was founded probably around the 8th century BC, underwent diverse natural catastrophes, and finally sunk entirely into the depths of the Mediterranean in the 8th century AD. (via)

Do I just…pick a God/Goddess or will they come to me? I hear accounts of others God/Goddess talking to them or something. How will I know if they’re around or talking to me (etc)?
Also, in order to do a spell (basically for the first time), do I need to have a specific God/Goddess to perform it correctly?

To answer the second question first - spell work can be performed with no connection to the deities. Of course, it can also be performed with the help of the deities. Aphrodite for a love spell, etc.

To answer the first - it varies greatly. I work with Athena out of choice and had to honor her to get her to agree. Hekate pursued me but left the final choice up to me. If you are interested in a god or goddess, it’s good to start by doing research on them. Many connect through meditation. Sometimes you might honor a god or goddess but never hear directly from them. Keep in mind, it’s not something you have to leap into quickly. There are demands and consequences to accepting a deity, so make sure you understand everything first.

Oh, yes, I work with the gods in a true polytheistic manner, though I have friends who follow the archetype structure and see the separate gods as a reflection of one divinity. Both approaches work, but can bring different results in your path.

you could do so many cool drives and engage folks via tumblr-- updates from an ongoing campaign in such a way that it could entice them complete with instagram photos and other methods of engagement, plus the tagging system to target kids in whatever area you're in! that's too fun. ours was a go for a while but the ceo co-opted it and then completely failed to use it so it flatlined. siiigh. if i'd gotten my hands on it, though...
